About this lake
Playgreen Lake is a large, island-dotted widening of the Nelson River at the top of Lake Winnipeg, on the historic Norway House fur-trade corridor. It supports a commercial fishery run through the Norway House Fishermen's Co-op, with walleye, sauger and lake whitefish under quota. Anglers reach it by boat from Norway House or Grand Rapids and find classic shield-country structure with strong walleye and pike fishing.
