About this lake
Little Limestone Lake is the world's largest marl lake, famous for water that shifts from crystal clear to brilliant turquoise as calcite precipitates in warm weather. Beneath the Caribbean looks is a genuine fishery for walleye, northern pike, perch and lake whitefish, with very little angling pressure thanks to its remote setting off Highway 6. The whole lake sits in a backcountry provincial park, so visits take planning and permission from the Mosakahiken Cree Nation.
